Your friend, Jamie, works for BMS in Princeton, NJ.   When you met Jamie out for drinks last weekend, she told you that she has been battling a gambling addiction that has been causing her to go into debt, lose her car, and other various issues including arguments with her boyfriend, friends, and finally at work.  Jamie cursed and pushed a co-worker last week and the co-worker reported her behavior to HR.  She said that her supervisor met with her and gave her a Disciplinary Form following this incident. Jamie said that her supervisor told her she had better contact the company's EAP and get enrolled into counseling or else she can be fired.

EAP is Employee Assistant Program. Under this program employee can seek help or guidance to overcome the work stress, personal stress, personal problems which affects negatively on their work performance, mental and emotional stability.

In this scenario, Jammie is facting such challenging issues which she is not able to deal with. Her supervisor has refferred this program as a referring agent so that she can be provided some help to overcome this situation. This is one kind of official recommendation made by her supervisor so that Jammie should use this EAP.

supervisor has approached the EAP coordinator and set the meeting with Jammie for counselling for personal problems and her Job confrontation. The EAP team can study the case with inside or outside resource with Jammie's consent. They will provide her conselling and her job confrontation which will involve structured and systematic approach which will resolve the confict in work area, form connection between people and incease the efficiency as per organisation requirement.
