what are Potential conflicts or influence between personal standards and the goals of an organization when implementing digital equality in an environment of diversity?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Organizational conflict - It occurs in two forms: affective conflict and cognitive conflict. There are six causes of organizational conflicts they are task interdependence, differences between values and beliefs, the absence of ambiguous rules, resource scarcity, ineffective communication and incompatible goals.

The three sources of conflict that we find in the workplace are task, relationship and process.

Potential conflicts - it is a general matter, to situations that do not necessarily constitute or appear to constitute a COI but where there is a reasonable possibility of an actual or apparent COI coming into play. It is a conflict of interest occurs when a party has competing interests or loyalties because of their duties to more than one person or organization. A person with a conflict of interest can't do justice to the actual or potentially conflicting interests of both parties.

conflicts in organizations is the interaction of interdependent people who perceive opposition of goals, aims and values and who see the other party as potentially interfering with the realization of the goals. The conflict is an evitable part of human existence, either in organizational life or in one’s personal life. The conflict is a part of relationships within the organization, between two or more individuals and groups. Whenever people work collectively, conflict is likely to occur. Cooperation is one side of all human existence and conflict is the other side. Conflict has to be analyzed from both the micro and the macro perspectives, because conflict may occur at many levels between two or more person, groups or even nations.

The potential conflicts or influence between personal standards and the goals of an organization when implementing digital equality in an environment with diversity are as follows:

1.In an organization different workers with different capability and type of work needs different type of digital technology. So in this point there is no need of digital equality.

2.some individuals in an organization have less understanding of technology, fewer digital skills, less presence on online platforms and are less likely to own mobile or technological devices.

3.Unless everyoneiin an organization is capable to use these tools proficiently to shape strategy and narratives they won’t be able to participate meaningfully in peace and security matters.

4.the effects of equality in digital technology aren’t all positive. Besides well-documented efforts by extremists to every worker in the organization online, tech tools can actually be supportfull.

Therefore in order to be productive conflict management should be constructive and lie in problem solving rather than contending. Conflict management is contingent upon the type of conflict issue. Cognitive conflict involving disputes over scarce resources and over procedures or policies or over opinions enhances problem solving and reduces contending behaviors but whereas affective conflict involving one’s personal or group identity and values does the reverse.
