Your employer wants its employees to be more healthy, and has decided to implement a Get Fit program. The company will pay the cost of each employee to get a doctor's clearance for their participation in the program. Participation will require each employee to fill out a complete health history, including family history of any major illnesses that might put the employee at risk. The company then will have a certified nurse review the histories with company HR staff, and the HR staff will then meet with each employee to develop a Get Fit plan, including diet and exercise. Employees who refuse to participate, or who do not meet their Get Fit goals, will pay an extra 25% of their health insurance premium costs.
Is the employer's plan legal? What federal law might prohibit such a program? (Hint: You might benefit from looking at wellness plans offered by employers).
A Thumbs Up! Would be really helpful for me. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Yes! Absolutely, the plan which is told by the employer in front of their employees is totally legal as the main motive of an employee is at their employees should remain fit and there should be a healthy environment in the organization so that what can be done more effectively and the goals can be achieved effectively and efficiently. This is a very important and effective step taken by the employer so that every employee should remain fit and do their work with more motivation and dedication. There are various laws that can provide this program as you cannot force every employee to follow this program as there may be an old age employee working in your organization who cannot follow your program because I don't have that much stamina. And after knowing that if you still insist that old age employees follow your program then that employee can take the help of law and in return, you have to pay remedies for what you did. No doubt the initiative is very good and it will help every employee to remain fit and work ok with full motivation and dedication for the organization but you cannot force every employee to follow your program.
