The disease Tuberculosis (TB) has been known by many different names during the history of TB. The various names have included

  • phthisis or Consumption- Used in Greek for Tuberculosis .
  • Scrofula- In Middle ages Tuberculosis of Cervical Lymph Nodes of neck So it was called as Scrofula
  • The Kings Touch- TB was called the "Kings Touch" and it was widely believed that the kings of England and France could cure scrofula simply by touching affected people.
  • The White Plague-

    Tuberculosis became epidemic in Europe in the 17th, 18th, & 19th centuries. As the disease swept across Europe, it was called the White Plague of Europe.

  • No Clinical Evidence of disease.
  • No Radiological Evidence of disease .
  • No Bacteriological Evidence of disease.
  • Less Screening
