(Answer) If it were a matter of the dangers of a particular drug, it would have been a matter of whether it should be made a prescription drug. When a drug is made a prescription drug, it is sold over the counter only with the permission of a trained medical professional. Marijuana has been prescribed by doctors for the alleviation of distressing symptoms for a long time now.

However, the decriminalisation of marijuana isn’t the same as regulations through prescription. Over the years, the prescription of marijuana has become synonymous with the arrest and criminalisation of the African American community.

Considering that white Americans are equally familiar with the consumption of drugs as the African Americans, it would be unfair to criminalise only a particular minority for possession. That is the very reason why marijuana should be made a prescription medication. There are certain opioid medicines that are a lot more dangerous than marijuana, yet people are not easily arrested from earning a profit from its sale because it is a white-collar crime.

Legalising marijuana and making it prescription will make it legally available through prescriptions and help avoid the arrest and criminalisation of minorities. That is why such drugs should be legalised to protect the minorities and then made available only through prescription in order to avoid any possible abuse.
