Regulation of transcription in eukaryotes is tightly regulated by the interaction of various cis elements and trans List AND describe the role of 3 different cis elements in transcriptional regulation and gene expression.
Cis acting elements are the part of the DNA those regulates transcrition of any particular gene. Whenever its required they regulate gene transcription. The list of such 3 cis-acting elements are listed below:
cis-acting element | Role in transcription |
Promoters | Promoters are the region of the gene where the RNA polymerase enzyme binds and strats transcription. These are the starting point of transcription of any gene. |
Distal regulatory elements | These are sequences present upstream of a gene which regulates the transcription. Mainly 2 types of such sequences are there. enhancers which increases transcription and silencers will repress transcription. |
terminators | Termination of the transcription is achieved by this regein of the gene. |
