What are the 4 dimensions of customer service from a logistics perspective? Explain each one briefly.
What is a stockout, and why should a logistics manager be concerned with this?
The 4 dimensions of customer service from a logistics perspective include the following:
1. convenience- it means that the levels of logistics service will be flexible.
2. communication- having communication with customer minimizes errors.
3. Dependability- Dependability is considered and emphasized more in comparison to the lead time.
4. Time- the time aspect includes the time taken to ship an order, preparation of the order, processing an order. Furthermore, it is also ensured that the order cycles are of constant duration, and customer service levels improve over time.
Stockout is a situation where the items are not in stock. Stockout is also a situation where the inventories are found to be exhausted. Logistics managers must be concerned with the same because keeping the inventories at sufficient levels will help to address the demands of the customers.
