Please provide your own opinion on:
1. Its effect (on all levels of different systems) its positive and negative impact so far
Quality ensures value of goods or services is in line with the price in comparison to competition with similar attributes. Quality Management is a process of ensuring that goods & commodities including services are in line with the requirement defined by users by using various techniques of quality assurance and quality control.
Quality course will definitely have a positive impact at the Master stage as it will cover a broad prospective of standards in different areas. Like Manufacturing – Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizan, Service Industry – ISO.
Quality Course will have a positive impact on overall systems right from Education, Healthcare, Transport, Security, and Aviation. Quality is always in comparison to the best available in the current scenario.
It helps in cost reduction, efficiency, better attributes, better service, and compliances to other standards open new windows for bigger opportunities.
The negative impact of quality is change in existing processes, ways which is painful, as all are used to a system for a long time. Making all stake holders part of the change for implementation takes time.
Also quality implementation requires lot of documentation, strict adherence to policies & setting up of quality assurance and quality control teams
Over all in long terms Quality is the key to success for long term.
(Please clarify (on all levels of different systems) which system)
2. Reality, from the
perspective of health care providers
Quality plays a very important role in health care providers, whether hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, testing labs, clinics, protective equipment manufacturers, and instrument and equipment manufacturer all have to adhere to stringent guidelines.
Quality is very critical and essential in Health care sector to protect the patient and doctors.
Adherence to quality norms is responsibility of every individual working in any domain of Health care. Many a times to meet demand or to complete the task individual tend to do corner cutting which may lead to fatal incidents.
3. Challenges (at each level
of different systems).
There are different challenges at different level.
Top management level will think about budget allocation, implementation, resource allocation, objective of doing any exercise and most important cost benefit analysis.
Time and resources required are huge , hence there is reluctance unless there is a mandate from government to do it.
Middle Management will have to execute the decision of top management. If Middle management is made a part of decision making then they will work closely. Otherwise there are chances of a gap between plan and execution, as ground reality is different. So implementation becomes a challenge.
The people at bottom of the pyramid are the ones who are actually going to execute or do the job. This team of people have to be made a part of the discussion so that the important of the same is known by every individual.
These are further challenges as there are some deviations taken in normal course which cannot be taken if new system is implemented. With the new system of adherence there are chances of costs going up or laying off people.
4. What will you do as a manager towards challenges at your level?
I will break the challenges in two parts. Skill challenge and Will challenge. For Skill Challenge I will go to HR or management and request them to organise training for the required skill set.
For will challenge will find out the exact reason, try and motivate the subordinates, help them in completing tasks, still if the same attitude continues will report to HR. Will also work on up skilling my team in different ways.
I will put a gant chart for project management and set goals to be achieved with specific timelines.
5. Areas of improvement
(regarding CBAHI and the Ministry of Health)
I will not be able to answer this question fully until some details of specific problem areas are not highlighted.
I checked CBAHI website it only gives basic outline of what the organization does. It doesn’t give details of accreditations required or to be provided, also there are no details of how to apply, guide lines & structure of Healthcare.
