Why is the idea that wind turbines cause health issues to humans called junk science?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Wind turbines are a source of clean renewable energy, but some people who live nearby describe the shadow flicker, the audible sounds, and the subaudible sound pressure levels are annoying. Annoyance may be associated with some self-reported health effects ( eg; sleep disturbance) especially at sound pressure levels>40dm. because environmental noise above certain levels is a recognized factor in a number of health issues. The subsonic noise generated by turbines is believed to cause maladies ranging from headaches and sleeplessness to dizziness and even depression, and visually, the flicker effect of spinning turbines can cause vertigo and even seizure. Studies have found that living near wind turbines does not pose a risk of human health, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that wind turbines are in any way harmful. Untested or unproven theories when presented as scientific facts and it is called junk science. overall there is no evidence for  wind turbines cause health issues to humans.
