Have you experienced being part of a team with a good (or bad) leader? What made that person good or bad? No real names, please.
I have experience of being part of a team with a bad leader. In my opinion, a good leader should communicate properly with the team members, help them to make better decisions and also show accountability in difficult times. My previous supervisor has not shown any of these skills. He never used communicate openly with the team and the members did not feel comfortable to share their issues. As there was no proper interaction with the members he could not make good decisions to improve the team’s performance or help us when we had to face challenges. Another thing that made him a bad leader was his reluctance to show accountability when any mistakes occur from the team members. If any issue occurs he used to make the team member accountable and escape from his responsibilities as a leader. Hence we used to feel insure under his leadership which led to low productivity and higher employee turnover.
