A disorder of childhood: ADHD (Attention-deficit/
Hyperactivity Disorder)
Symptoms that can be noted by the teacher in a classroom are as
follows:-
Symptoms of Attention-deficits:
- Child is unable to pay sustained or long attention in tasks
given to them or play activities.
- Have difficulty in organising task and keeping his/her things
(like stationaries, homeworks, etc.) in place.
- Avoid or are reluctant in doing those tasks which require
sustained mental efforts like homework or schoolwork.
- Faces difficulty in listening to long lectures, or long
conversations.
- They get easily distracted
- Might lose their important things like school materials, books,
pencils, erasers, eyeglasses and so on.
Symptoms of Hyperactivity:
- Talkative in class
- Does not remain in his/her seat most of the time or when it is
expected of them to sit in one place.
- Are fidgety while sitting, looks restless.
- Answers to a question before it is completed, interrupts in
conversations.
- Have difficulty waiting for their turn while playing, answering
questions, in queue.
- Run or climb in classrooms or corridors when not
appropriate.
