Do you think that illness/ disease is caused by social conditions/ society, or is something that is biological in nature? Why? 200 words
Although most of the illnesses are caused by physical imbalance in terms of chemicals and genes, most of them would also be caused by lack of environmental support. This would mean that people need a better and safe place to live and in the absence of a safe place people would be vulnerable to physical illness that would be caused by the weather or other animals. Secondly, people are the product of their environment which would mean that they need people around them to lead a happy and content life. When people experience loneliness and rejection, they might develop physical illnesses. Thirdly, one’s socio-economic status and ability to pay for food, housing and medicine would largely impact one’s physical health in a more expensive society. Finally, one’s employment and relationship stress would also cause more damage to one’s physical health. Stress is one of the most important reasons for health deterioration which is caused by environmental factors in the family and society. When people do not have the necessary human support in terms of emotional and social supports that come from various people in the society, they would be psychologically affected which would lead them to develop more physical complications. Thus, it’s obvious that social factors would contribute more to the positive or negative physical health.
