The Right to Disconnet
As the manager of the company, you are realizing that more and more of your employees are complaining of burnout and you are seeing more turnover in several positions. In order to correct this issue, you have noticed what French legislation has done and have decided to develop a disconnect policy for your business. Therefore, for this assignment you will create a disconnect policy. Your policy must address the issues of the use of technology after normal working hours and the expectation of work during these hours. Your plan should be at least one page in length and cover such areas as computer use, email, cell phone, and any other types of communication and expected work after the normal hours. Any research done on the topic to develop your policy must be referenced and cited.

Being a manager, its disappointing to learn that your employees are experiencing and complaining about burnout and turnover in several positions.

As we all know, the French legislation had implemented a law of Right to Disconnect in 2017 for working employees. This helps all managers of the organizations across the globe to understand the issues of employees burnout and assist them in taking the right action.

For our employees in the company I am designing the below Disconnect Policy:

DISCONNECT POLICY

As an integral part of the organization and the team, every employee is expected to perform to their best abilities, professionalism and standards. This policy is designed to ensure that all the employees are able to perform with the expected level of commitment from them. The information in this policy document appies to all employees of the company. After negotiations and discussions with the employee unions, this policy have been formulated for the benefit of the organization and employees mutually. As an employee, you are responsible to read, understand and comply with all the provisions given in this policy document.

With the advancement of technological use, smartphones, tablets and computers are used by all the employees and they are pretty happy about its advantages. Employees need not commute to the company everyday and work from home have become the new trend. Organizations and managers are also happy because they can save on the expenses that will cause if employees work in their premises. However, lately our company management have noticed that technology use have caused many disadvantages to the company and employees. To correct this and bring back good and productive work environment in the company, all employees, team leaders and managers should abide by the below policy rules:

Contacting an employee after work hours or on a weekend when they are away from work, causes disturbing effect in their private lives that affects their mental health indirectly. Managers, Team leaders and employees will have the right to not contact each other after work hours and weekends for any work related discussion unless it is really demanding for the project.

All employees have the right to disconnect from work - after work hours, weekends, holidays , on employee leave days. On such instances, Team leaders, managers and employees have the right to restrict themselves from any work related messaging or calls.

All employees will have the right to ignore their emails, messages or calls when they are out of office.

All employees are encouraged to enable their message as "on holiday from and till date" instead of "out of office" when they are on holidays and will be completely disconnected from work.

We encourage all employees to make use of their rights and increase their productivity to their best during the work hours in office as their emotional well being is valued by our company.
