This week you will discuss either the Immunization study or the Stanford Prison study. You will tell your fellow classmates which of the studies you felt led to the most harm and what you think could have been done by the scientists, the media, and the public to avoid or fix the harms caused.
Which of the studies you felt led to the most harm?
Stanford Prison study did more harm in my opinion.
Reason: The prisoners were taunted with insults and petty orders, and they were brutally dehumanized both physically and mentally.
What you think could have been done by the scientists, the media, and the public to avoid or fix the harms caused.
(A)Scientists i.e. psychologist should have already given instructions to avoid excessive emotional breakdowns of prisoners, and excessive aggression of the guards.
(B)Media and public should have demanded investigation against this study which was lacking moral principles completely.
(C)Psychologist should have avoided ethical issues by taking fully informed consent from participants.
(D) Psychologist should have tried to predict in advance what would happen in the experiment, whether it will reach to such degraded conducts by participants or not.
(E)Consent were required the participant prisoners for being 'arrested' at home.
(F)Final approvals from the police were required which was quite delayed in this case.
(G)Families of participants should have already understood the whole scenario of this study.
Kindly do like if It Helped!
Thank you!!!
