What is the difference between primary and secondary groups in society? What is an example of each type of group?
The diffrence between primary and secondary group is social organization, Group Relationship and social order and nature
Primary Group:
1. The major features of primary group is , it is small group in size whose member are share close , personal and enduring relationship.
2. The concept of primary group was introduced by Charles Cooley.
3. This group is reffered as first intimate group of child . Here child learn basic moral values and traditional culture like family.
4. Primary group play leading role in development of personal identity.
5. In primary group , People exchange love , caring, concern , anomosity and love relationship and develop "we feeling"
6. This group alwys provide source of support mentally and economically .
7. It is play vital role in socilization process and excersize social controll over them .
example:
Family, Childhood friends , peer groups , clique , basketball team.
SECONDARY GROUP:
1. Here people share part of their life while focusing on their goal or task.
2. They are usually share impersonal relationship to achieve in specific purpose.
3. It can be characterized by large size mainly . Small size may also be there.
4. Each individual have own beliefs and values .like occupational associaition and ethnic group.
5. They have less and weak emotional bonding and more formal like political organization .
6. We are generally meet with them through work purpose like class mates , collegue etc .
7. Their relationship more temporary rather than long lasting .
example:
Class mates in school , collegue in work place , sports friends,association etc.
