Can prevention and wellness become the dominant focus of primary care? If so, what changes need to be implemented to achieve this result? If we focus on wellness, will it actually reduce costs by preserving health and avoiding costly illnesses?
Yes, prevention and wellness should become a dominant focus of primary care because it is always better to prevent a disease or it’s symptoms than seeking its cure . Once the affected person starts showing symptoms it gets very difficult for the person to be completely fine and healthy. So it is better to always prevent and take precautions to make sure the disease does not happen in future or even if it happens the symptoms are not that worse . To achieve this result it is very important to create awareness at a very large scale . People should understand the importance of prevention in their lives. Normally people think that they won’t be affected by any illness or they are perfectly healthy. But this is a misconception. Be it mental health , physical health , social health or emotional health , it is very important to always take preventive measures to ensure good quality of life . Secondly , it is important for the government and hospitals to ensure special rules and regulations that highlight the importance of prevention and overall well-being of a person or persons and instead of focusing on new treatment plans and cures they start sharing knowledge of prevention and well-being and importance of it in ones life .
Yes ofcourse , if prevention is taken care of , the heavy costs of illnesses would diminish to a greater amount and also health of the population would be immensely affected in a positive way.
