Because, if you understand the culture than you can communicate with them very easily and if you have a good relation with them than it will be very good for you. However, they will be impacted by your work, for example, your colleague has a different culture and you guys don’t interact with each other very often. And he is superior to you, he is your head in the department. And if you do anything wrong in your work, then he gets scolding, your work has an impact on him. So it is advisable to know each other very well that mistakes can be avoided, there should be clear communication between you two. In that case, you should be friend with him which will cut down mistakes, so you have to understand his culture and you have to make a good bond with him.
