Expert Solution

Sulfur is a non-metallic p-block element with atomic number 16, its atomic mass is 32 a.m.u. Sulfur shows allotropism, means it is available in different forms alpha-, beta- and gamma- sulfur. Natural sulfur is in yellow crystalline solid. Each form has its own geometry, color and characteristics. sulfur is the 10th most abundant element in the universe. It is key ingredient for manufacture of sulfuric acid, which in turn goes into fertilizers, batteries. But Sulfur dioxide is a common pollutant. sulfur is a byproduct of the refinement of fossil fuels. All living things need sulphur, amino acid methionine and cysteine also contains sulphur. It occurs in nature as sulphides. Sulfur has isotopes (same atomic number but different atomic massess).
