A) Microsoft started as a software developer company but then soon diversified its product protfolio. Currently its product mix consists of:

  • Devices: This includes computers, Xbox and phones
  • Softwares: This includes softwares like Ms Office, Microsoft windows
  • Games: This includes majorly the Xbox games and the windows games that are provided complimentory
  • Entertainment: This is product mix in which the Microsoft takes a cut in the movies and songs sold through its website

B) Microsoft has many strong brands in the market. One of them is their most selling software, the Microsoft Windows. It is the most selling operating system in the world. Another strong brand is the Ms Office which is found in each and every computer and without which the function of a computer is incomplete these days. Next strong brand is their Xbox gaming device which again is the hot selling gaming console in the market.
