Is there a difference between drug abuse and drug misuse; explain with examples? cite source and no plagiarism
Drug misuse means using a drug for something other than its intended reason. Drug abuse is when pricribion are used for the purpose of getting high.
Misuse refers to illegal drug taking which leads a person to experience social psychological, physical or legal problems related to indoseaction or excive compunctions or dependence.
Examples of commonly misused drugs are pain killers, sleeping tablets., Medication for common cold etc
When you misuse a drug it will lead to memory problems and even to seizure. Some can trigger paranoia, some can increase body temperature and up normal heartbeats. Their can be risk for cardiovascular problems. Ususlly people misuse the drug which one give them a euphoria. Addictions comes gradually and teenager and adolescent are more Rick to experience something new and potentially euphoric.
Drug abuse is characterized by frequent intoxication, drug taking to blot out reality or find short term solutions to problems and disruption of normal social behavior, Eg. Problems with significant other, neighbors,employers, employee, colleges & even police .
The main category of drugs are illegal drugs include marijuana, heroin, cocaine, amphetamines, hashish, opium and methamphetamine & club drugs.
Common factors which lead to drug abuse are family history of addiction, lack of family support, peer pressure mental health disorders, Early use of drug etc
