eexplanation of shopper marketing. Define the concept and explain why it has grown in prominence.
As a consumer, have you often found yourself the "target" of the buying process? What product were you purchasing and what influenced your buying decision that you think was part of the shopper marketing process?
Shopper marketing is the recent trend in marketing where it is
based on customers buying choices and how their behaviour of buying
is put in place. It takes into account the product that appeals to
the customer at the last moment and they are motivated to buy the
product.
It has been prominence because this kind of marketing brings in
more sales figures. It also helps the company to focus on products
that are really important to the customers and make them available
to the customers. Grocery stores and multi-product stores uses this
marketing strategy to the utmost demand. They offer free samples to
the customer and check their behaviour pattern and reaction to the
products. This helps them to analyse and understand which products
are more reliable and in want for the customers.
Yes, in most of the cases I have found myself as a target for this
marketing process. I was in for buying some groceries where the
shop keepers were offering free samples of chips. I thought at
first I should go with my regular brand, but the reviews and
marketing strategy that combined with packaging and behaviour of
other buyers led me to buy the new chips that too, at a lower
price. I was subconsciously pushed to buy those as I saw other
people buying and talking about the quality of the chips. It may be
possible that I won’t buy that another time, but at least I had
bought it once for the sake of trying it.
