BUSINESS ETHICS
1. Can you talk of cases where ethical behavior has been correctly handled (justly punished) or unfairly treated? What have other corporate responses been?
2. Have you ever been coerced by someone who is in a position of authority to do something you thought was mistaken?
Business ethics is the application of morality in business. It
is the sum of all decisions and actions taken by an entity. All
aspects of the business are being concerned and are relevant to the
entire organization.
1)
A multinational company named Gucci operated stores worldwide,
providing customers with elite goods. In China, it possesses an
iconic brand image. They accelerated the process of opening stores
in the mainland. For this achieving this goal they created inhumane
working conditions. The employees of that entity were suffering
from occupational diseases. They were forced to work overtime
without giving any compensation.
At last, the Headquarters of the Gucci stated that they have
replaced the store manager and have taken strict measures. Also,
the Human resources bureau asked them to compensate the workers who
have been suffered. This issue was discussed all over the media and
lead to strict follow of labor rights by all other entities.
2)
I work in an insurance company. My boss forces me to deny giving
claims to the rightful ones at the right time. He wants to delay
the claim, as it would provide the company more interest in the
period in which the fund is delayed. From an organization's
approach, It would provide them more profit. But I always insist to
provide the claim at the right time, but my Boss always forces me
to delay the claim. He also forces me to state the claimant that
paperwork is yet to be finished.
The organization always states that customer satisfaction is the
key goal. Thus, doing something against the wish of customers isn't
a rightful approach.
