Ethics in Business and Accounting Question
Do you think that companies should have an ethical or legal responsibility to show the total price that you will pay in the initial advertisement?
No, I don't think that companies should have an ethical or legal responsibility to show the total price that we will pay in the initial advertisement of the company. The reasons behind it are as follows-
1. Advertising cost should never be considered as cost. It should be put as an investment and investments should not be considered as other revenue cost factors like material , labour, packing, branding etc.
2. Advertisment is helpful for consumers as it provides knowledge to consumers about any product, its uses, etc. So consumers should not mind about advertising cost as a main cost which is to be shown at product.
3. Total price on advertisements are conducted to increase the sales of the product and their effect is sometimes is considered for a short duration of time. So we can not show it with other mandatory costs of products.
On the basis of above facts we can say that companies should not have an ethical or legal responsibility to show the total price that we will pay in the initial advertisement of the company.
Thanks & all the best.............
