How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis is one of the most important ground breaking and pioneering works that brought out the division the city has in terms of rich and poor. It’s a photo documentary that aimed at showing the poor living conditions of the poor people who live in the slums to the rich people of the New York city. Thus, he aimed at looking at the photos not from the economic point of view but from a Christian point of view which would mean that showing empathy, mercy and charity in order to improve the conditions of people who live in the slums.
