For Karl Marx, what we do is who we are. However, under advanced capitalism that is only true of a very few of us. According to Marx, under capitalism, work has become something that you do, not who you are. Capitalism has thus robbed us of ourselves.
How does the film Happiness by Steven Cutts reflects Karl Marx's discussion of alienation and how does it relate to you own life? How can we use Karl Marx's ideas about alienation and inequality to make sense of our own lives and to come up with alternative visions of how we could live instead?
I really liked the idea of Karl Marx, and the video made by Steven Cutts. I used this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ4VzhIuKCQ, hope this is the correct one. Earlier when I took subject of my choice, I always thought that this subject and its study is making me more complete. It is giving me real sense of meaning to my life. I liked getting engrossed into the subject. I used to think that going for work would make my dream more complete, it would again give me perfect sense. No but as said in the video the things were different. At work place we are considered as machines, just to take money out of our work. And we work, and eventually become alienated. Though we earn money but we become alienated from each other and our self. This extra or over work not only brings boredom but also makes us forget about our happiness related ideas of working.
We should set up a clock instead.Clock of these many hours to invest of no. of tasks. Clock to go out for a walk. i often experience this that working under somebody do not give much joy over to working alone as freelancer or having your business. This thing gives us complete freedom or the liberty to work. We can implement our own ideas. If we stock in profit or status business we may loose our sense of happiness, so we should not run behind these things too much. Setting a goal as well as a limit would bring greater satisfaction of work. Every time we should think of how we can be happy.
Meditation helps us in bringing peace of life and we can also think of what we can do or what we want to do peacefully. We can also think productively with the help of meditation and yoga
