ENERGY REQUIREMENT- Energy requirement is the amount of food energy needed to balance energy expenditure in order to maintain body size, body composition and a level of necessary and desirable physical activity consistent with long term good health.

Estimated Energy Requirement (EER): The physical activity coefficients are used in the EER equations to estimate energy requirements and are based on ranges of physical activity levels. The Physical Activity Level (PAL) is the ratio of total energy expenditure to basal energy expenditure (TEE/BEE).
