Two airplanes in a show are performing an act called a near miss, in which they start over opposite ends of the show (in the air), head directly toward one another, and then roll at the last second to avoid collision. Suppose the roll is supposed to happen in front of the announcer
let the plane meet each other after time t
distance travelled by plane1 = velocity x time = 143t m
u =112m/s
a = 10m/s^2
distance travelled by plane 2 = ut + 0.5at^2
= 112t+5t^2
distance travelled by plane 1 and plane 2 = 1400m
143t + 112t + 5t^2 = 1400
t^2 + 51t - 280 = 0
t = 5,-56
-56 is not possible since by that time cannot be negative
t = 5s
distance travelled by plane 1 = 143 x 5 = 715m
the meeting location is 115m to the right of the center
velocity of plane 2 = u + at
= 112 + 10 x 5 = 162m/s
