A wire coil of 35 turns has a cross-sectional area of 12 cm2. The coil is placed in a uniform field of a large magnet with B = 0.32 T. The coil is suddenly rotated 90 o from an orientation parallel to the field to one perpendicular to the field. The time to flip the coil is 0.47 s. What is the magnitude of the average emf produced?

What will be the average current produced if the circuit of the coil is closed and the resistance is 80 ohm?

A wire coil of 20 turns has a cross-sectional area of 14 cm2. The coil is placed in a uniform field of a large magnet with B = 0.22 T. The coil is suddenly rotated 90 o from an orientation parallel to the field to one perpendicular to the field. The time to flip the coil is 0.53 s.

a)What is the magnitude of the average emf produced?
b)What will be the average current produced if the circuit of the coil is closed and the resistance is 85 ohm?

given that

number of turns in the coil N = 20

area of the coil                 A = 14 cm2

                                            = 14 cm2 ( 1 m/ 100 cm)2

                                             = 14 x 10-4 m2

magnetic field                     B = 0.22 T

the time taken to flip

               flop the coil        t = 0.53 s

the magnitude of average induced emf is ? = NBA/t

                                                                   =(20)(0.22 T)(14 x 10-4 m2)/0.53 s

                                                                   =0.0116 V (or) 11.6 mV

average current in the coil is I(avg) = induced emf/ resistance

                                                      = 0.0116V/85 ?

                                                      =1.36 x 10-4 A

                                                          (or)

                                                     = 0.136 mA
