Solutions

Expert Solution

A factor which prevents a person from committing crime and going to jail is one's upbringing and nurturance. How and where a person is raised, plays a crucial role in the development of an individual as a responsible and sound citizen of the state or country. It is extremely important to help a child understand the values of rewards and adverse effects of punishment. The child should be nurtured in a way that he or she fears loosing valuable rewards and fears punishment for wrong deeds. The child should be taught the difference between right and wrong and good and bad, so that he does not end up becoming a criminal.

The kind of environment in which a child grows and develops also plays a key role in the upbringing of a child and prevention of crime. The child should be provided a healthy, rewarding and interactive environment. His important needs for proper development should be fulfilled by the parents. Parents should give adequate time to the child, so that he or she feels secure, loved and cared for. On the other hand, if a child grows and develops in a deprived environment, his needs will not be fulfilled. He will start feeling irritated, aggressive and can potentially become violent. So, a deprived environment cause a child to indulge in crimes to release his negative emotions and follow his impulses.

Apart from upbringing and one's environment, the certainty and fear of being caught by the police and the impending punishment can prevent a person from committing crime and going to jail. A person can also fear loosing a good lifestyle, job, business, family and friends, if he or she commits a crime. This fear can prevent a person from committing crime and going to jail.
