The domain statement of HRM helps managers to make informed decisions about selecting. These domain statements are divided in four categories and 19 dimensions. These include reward system attributes, staffing system attributes, attributes of the training and development system, and attributes of the performance measurement system. I’m currently work as a Test Engineer in UTC Aerospace Systems in Santa Isabel, P.R. We manufacture electronic and mechanical aerospace equipment for many commercial and military customers around the world. Analyzing my current place of employment along the 19 dimensions I found some statements to improve. In the reward system attributes category, the company can improve in the skill based pay system. Currently, the pay system is based on the type of job and not in the skill of the employee. With a skill based pay system, employees will have a motivation to learn new skills that will help both them and the company. In the attributes of the training and development system category, the company can improve the career pathing system. Although the company offers several alternatives for the professional development of its employees, this development depends on the initiative of the employee and not a development plan of the company.
Is important to any company to improve the HRM trough the analysis of these 19 dimensions. Although there is no perfect company, continuous assessment of their practices help employees and the company to effectively improve and achieve goals.
