There are many arguments in favor of drug legalization and just as many in favor of keeping strict legal control over mind-altering substances. Some, for example, say that in a free society, people should be permitted to do what they want as long as they do not harm others. Others say that drug use causes many personal and social problems. Are you in favor of drug legalization or decriminalization? Or, would you prefer to keep today's drug laws as they are, or make them even tougher? Explain your answer.
America is an individual society that respects the freedom of the individuals and that's why there were many struggles for individual rights such as women's right, LGBTQ rights, Hippie rights etc. Drug use is also considered as one of the individual rights. an individual who is of legal age can decide for himself/herself. Although it is related to individual rights, it's also about a nation's future. Legalizing drugs would prompt more people to go, buy and use it. When one uses drugs, the chances are more that they would become addicted and involve in unwanted behaviours both in the public and at home. It would prevent them from going to work regularly thus reducing their productivity. It would also affect their health and thus incurring more medical expense and dependent citizens to the country. It would bring more relationship problem thus affecting the children. So, in my opinion, drug laws should be very strict and only then we can have healthy people and healthy nation.
