Charlie is an 8-year-old boy who is having difficulty making friends and sitting still in class....

Charlie is an 8-year-old boy who is having difficulty making friends and sitting still in class. When he goes to school, his teacher complains that he can't sit still. He will sit for 3 minutes but soon after he starts bouncing his leg, and then he begins tapping his pencil. Shortly thereafter, he starts rapping lyrics under his breath. He is performing well in school, but his behavior is distracting others.

Charlie isn't hyperactive like this at home, but his mother is concerned. His mother wants you to prescribe him Xanax for anxiety and Adderall for ADHD. After you do an extensive interview with Charlie, you realize that he is just bored in his U.S History class and would rather be playing basketball in P.E.

However, Charlie's mother insists that you write a few prescriptions. Research suggests that medical professionals (Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant's, etc.) are often pressured to write prescriptions even when they don't believe that it is the best thing to do for the patient.

Your investigation has led you to believe that Charlie just needs more physical exercise. But his mother continues to insist that Charlie needs medication. How would you explain to his mother what you plan to do?

Use your investigation skills and present your facts to her. Be sure to incorporate at least 1 developmental theory covered in this week's readings to support your argument.

Charlie is 8 year old boy is not having ADHD like you belief madam .Charlie shared his problems with me and from his conversations I understood that he is not at all having ADHD .

First of all ADHD is a condition of hyperactivity disorder in which present with poor attention ,hyperactive impulsive behaviour. In this disease the symptoms need to have begun before the age of 7 years ,be present in school and home ,and significantly impair functioning. For charlie his symptoms started recently and his impulsiveness present only in school .At home he behave normally. Charlie told me that he is very much bored in U.S history class thats why he plays like that .So as a mother you should realise some facts .Your child is absolutely normal moreover his class performances are good.

As a psychologist I understood that his age 7 years .According to psychologist piaget ,this is the stage when child develops the ability for logical thinking .Piaget uses the term operational thought to describe the charecteristics of this stage.Operation indicates a course of action designed by the child by mentally manipulating a number of complex associations and integrating them into a more complex system of mental actions. This is made poissible by the ability of reversibility which promotes logical thinking. But it has to be remembered that during this stage operation is possible only when concrete objects or experiences are available .Thus a child belonging to this age group can learn the four fundemental mathematical operations using concrete objects which he is able to group together or classify in terms of one or more attributes. So in this stage child will lose the interest in passages and more interested in mathematical skills.

So your child will get bore in U.S history period ,butr can be made intresting by using some techniques .So as a mother you  can correct him .So I will tell you some tips to make him interest in history subjects.History tells about the journey of man from the savage life to modern advances.the discovery of fire ,writingb and printing ,cities and architecture ,land ,air and travel ...Tell him about how to learn simply by using tips.the years can be memorised more easily by connecting it with simple stories .Offer some rewards for behave quiet in classes.Give some advices for easy learning .Like this you can correct your child's behaviour.
