Florence Nightingale Theory
Florence Nightingale theory is a great contribution by the first ever nursing theorist Florence Nightingale, who is known as the' Lady with a Lamp'. This theory mainly deals with environment which is described as a major component of health. Environment includes fresh air, proper lighting, pure water, proper drainage and cleanliness which are said to the the essential factors which promote healing and helps iearly recovery. Healthy , hygienic and safe environment should be strictly followed in nursing care as per Nightingale's theory. Nightingale's theory has a great significance in nursing practices as the poor and unhealthy conditions in hospitals can worsen the patient's condition as well as it can cause Nosocomial infections as well. Proper ventilation and cleanliness should be there in the hospital environment.
The person, environment, health and nursing which are the key components of conceptual model , are satisfied by Florence Nightingale theory. Even though the Nightingale's model mainly stresses on environmental factors, the other factors like person, health and nursing also comes under that. Hence the Florence Nightingale theory proves conceptual model.
