This week is about Big Data, one of the most "talked about" topics in the world of data. Many of you are aware of the 3Vs of Big Data.

In 200 words:

Expert Solution

Below are explained the 3V's of big data -

1) Volume - Volume refers to the amount of data that is being generated It means the amount of data that is available out there in the world which can be processed for extracting the relevant information Consider social media(as a real world example) There are millions of users on facebook, twitter, youtube, instagram and other social media platforms These users keep posting/uploading the photos, videos, blogs thereby generating a huge volume of data Also the number of users keep increasing day by day You can also relate it to as use of sensors, smartphones in nereby futute will keep contributing to increase this already enormous amount of data

2) Velocity - Velocity refers to the speed at which data is being generated Again i will stick with the social media example There are millions of users on facebook, twitter, youtube, instagram and other social media platforms These users keep posting/uploading the photos, videos on facebook, tweeting on twitter performing search on google thereby generating data at very fast rate You might observe the difference between the amount of data(Velocity) and the rate at which data is being genereated(Velocity)

3) Variety - Variety refers to the diversity in data Variety means both the structured, unstructured and semi-structured data Each kind of data is stored and processed in its own kind Again consider social media as an example for this where data is generated in different forms like texts, tweets, photos, videos etc

Consider the data source as -

I have tried to explain it in as simple language as possible Leave doubts in comment section if any
