Diagnosing substance addiction in a client that also has mental illness is very challenging. Why? What approaches may help when diagnosing substance addiction in a client with mental illness?

In dual diagnosis , people have substance addiction as well as mental Illness like schzophernia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression .we are oftenly observed that most people who are addicted in substance , also suffred various blinds mental billness . It is really so difficult task to dealing with durg addiction or alchololism . It will be more difficult if they have mental issue .it have positive corelation between high increase of substance useage and high incresae mental health problem . If people consistently taking alchololism or drugs then they lead themselves to more in suffering of mental Illness . Such People take drugs or alcohol for get rid off from such kind depression ,anxieety , conflict , cope with situation or temporary change their mood in practically , when they get addicted on substance , they gradually deteoriting their mental condition and feel more anxiety , depression .so in case of diagnosing substance addiction with mental Illness very challenging. The major reason is they are not in state of delibrate situation. Even there also having diffrent in symtops of mental disorder like anxiety or depression and alchololism People. It takes lots of effort and time to identify what might be drug problem or mental disorder problem. Sometimes a person suffered in mental disorder , but behave like drunk People . So he needs therapy to treat mental disorder rather than deal with alchololism.

5. Do you ever treated for your substance addiction ? Does it mean that your treatment was not succesful only for mental disorder ??
