Describe the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Then, choose an everyday object or system and explain how the idea of the electromagnetic spectrum can be used to understand the way it works.
The essay must have a minumum of two paragraphs

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution : the electromagnetic spectrum can be divided majorily in 7 different types of waves .

1. Gamma rays which has highest frequency and energy range. This rays are emitted during nuclear disintegration or radioactivity.

2. X ray - these were discovered by Roentgen. These ray can penetrate the human flesh so they are used for bone structure or injury study.

3. Ultra voilet ray -they have frequency higher than visible spectrum . These rays forms 10 percent part of solar radiation. They can be utilized to kill microbateria or organism.

4. Visible rays or light - wavelength range 400 nk to 800 nm. These waves can be detected by human retina hence we can see the world with the help of them.

5. Infrared rays ( heat radiations ) they have frequency lower than visible spectrum . They are used for remote sensing, infrared photography.

6. Micro waves ( normal wave length can be from few cm to some meter) these waves are used in microwave oven. They produce heat in water molecules by agitation of them .Widely used in point to point communication.

7. Radio waves has wavelength among of all from few centimeter to meters. These waves are mainly used in RADAR technology and communication.

Let us take an example of radio transmission and communication in which radio waves are used widely . With the help of LC circuit tuning these waves can easily be detected. There waves can be used for wireless networks. These waves can be utilized for ground waves and sky wave communication. They are reflected back by ionosphere henCe can be utilized for short range communication .
