The recommendations for the issue of suicide (more detailed as much as possible)
Suicide is not a diagnosis , it a condition or behaviour that directs a person toward self destruction by any process. The Latin meaning is - '' own killing ".
Incidence rate of suicide is acording to Amarican Foundation of Suicide Prevention 2014 report more than 42,000 people are died in suicide case. The adolescents , more than 15 yrs. age are attempt to suicide is higher in number.
The preventive recommendations for the prevention of suicide are =
1st of all assessment of the client.
Assess the risk factors that causes to attempt suicide like as - socioeconomic status of the client ( lower socioeconomic status are high risk of suicide),
- age of the client ( in adolescents chance are more)
- gender (high in adolescents girl and in adult male)
-Religion,
- Marital status ( married couples are more attempt to suicide)
-ethinicity ( caucasian American Indian )
- other factors like as Insomnia, personal history ( like homosexuality, multiple sex partners, intimate relationship with many person )etc.
- Nurochemical condition like as decrease serotonin level.
Take history of any mental trouma inside, any history of depression, anxiety, hopelessness. History of aggressive violence, Shame and humiliation. Take history of any child hood sexual assault or hareshment. Information about working relationship, relationship with peer group and siblings, relationship with teachers and parents.
Any family history of sicidal tendency, or parental bitter relationship.
Proper mental status examination to be done.
Prevention of suicide =
Interventions for nurses =
I. Established a trusting and helping relationship with the client,
ii. Collaborate with the client to establish self esteem,
iii. Encourage client to express his or her honest feeling of mind. As questions like " When did you feel to attempt self destruction? How sever the feelings are? How many time they comes to your mind? In which setuation they come?"
iv. Maintain a close observation to the client.
v. Remove allthe hearmfull objects from the room that the client can use to hearm herself
vi. Maintain a special care administration.
vii. Identify the stressors , any courrent crysis situation.
viii. Help to identify the coping behaviour of the client.
ix. Encourage the verbalization of the feelings of the client.
x. Help to identify the situation under control.
Help to identify the sources of discharge of feelings, and crisis conditions.
Discuss with the patient what feel them happy and what make them angry.
xi. Took the client for a cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, recreational therapy, relaxation therapy, family therapy .
xii. Not take any alcohol, or any opoids or any other drugs.
Family Education =
Teach the family members to treat properly to the client. Make a close observation of the client. Support the client in all setuation. Contact with the suicide prevention team when any suicide condition if arise.
