Think of one aspect of your life (college, career, family, new home, etc.) for which you now understand the future to be different from the present and perhaps different from the future you imagined two-months ago. Write a vision statement. With that done, what does it mean when we say the vision can include a description of both the journey and the destination?
It is beautifully said that vision includes both the journey and the destination for the organisation. To understand deeply about this fact, I would like to talk about the aspect of the college. Two months ago when this whole covid-19 situations wasn't even there, my college was just going as regular as it was. The internals were done and the final term examinations were lined up for April ending. I have planned so much for these 2 months about how I'll complete my courses, i'll find an internship and various other subjects I'll enroll in my next academic year. The least did we all knew that this covid-19 would actually happen all around the world and we would actually face such a time in our lives where the whole world would be on a break. No organisation, no institution, no government bodies nothing will work and the whole earth would come on the hold. This was the least expected idea. Although, to continue our education, many steps were taken so students' loss won't occur. Arrangement of presentations, online classes, online resources etc were prepared to make us adapt ourselves with this situation and fight from it anyhow all together. This is what the vision of an organisation is all about. An organisations sets a vision to achieve sustainability anyhow which is the destination. But what about the journey? Take any example Amazon, Apple, Google etc they all are at the highest level in their particular industry. What makes them achieve the highest point or destination if you say isn't only the success stories. The failure stories are as contributing as the success stories are. The failure gives them the representations of who they are. Failures guided them to adapt themselves to the environmental changes happening around and makes them understand that to survive and to reach the top, one has to understand and adapt itself with the changes happening around, only then one would truly understand the meaning of journey and the destination, both being a contributing factor for the success.
