Assuming standard atmospheric pressure and tdb=25 C and 90% RH. Compute (a) dew point temperature (b) specific humidity (c) enthalpy (d) wet bulb temperature

Solutions

Expert Solution

We can solve this problem easily using psychrometric chart at atmosphere as given in the question:

In first figure:yellow line is directed by dry bulb temperatureTdb=250 c as relative humidity is 90% plot the point indicated as red point.

*from that red point go along sky blue line you get specific humidity=18g/kg.

*from that red point go along brown line you get enthalphy=70.5kj/kg

as it doent have temperatures on the curve i used another chart 2

White line directs dry bulb temperature and plot the point corresponding to Tdb and 90% relative humidity as before.

.*from that point go along red line you get dew point temperature=>Tdw=23.50c

.*from that point go along purple line you get wet bulb temperature=>Twb=240c

The dew point depression (Tdd) is defined as the difference between the temperature and dew point temperature at a given level: Tdd = T – Td. Using the expression given in lecture (slide 19 of lecture 4), plot on a graph the height of the LCL (Liding Condensation  level) (y-axis; units of km) vs. the surface dew point depression (x-axis; units of ˚C). Do this for dew point depression values ranging from 0˚C to 15˚C. You may code this or do...

In a supermarket, air at atmospheric pressure and 25 °C is supplied to an air handling unit through a rectangular duct with a cross section of 0.5 m x 0.1 m. The air handling unit will distribute 2/3 of the air to the large shopping area of the supermarket at 25 °C, and it will cool the remaining air to -5 °C and distribute it to a walk-in refrigerator. To avoid frictional pressure losses, the average air velocity in the...
