What theory of motivations makes the most sense for you? Explain your answer based on your attempt to get through college, write at least 250 words.
The theory of motivation which makes the most sense is the theory given by McClelland because the theory talks about motivation as a consequence of a particular kind of need for an individual. Individuals have different kinds of needs which can drive them to get motivated to perform an action which will lead into the satisfaction of the need and hence fulfillment of the motivation cycle. McClelland has define the three motivators which are primary and permanent in nature and can work as an umbrella for all other motivating factors-
1. Need for achievement- this kind of need is to accomplish competency especially in terms of academic or work life in order to obtain better development and become proficient in the work.
2. Need for affiliation- this kind of need is related to love and belongingness which helps in regulation of relationships for an individual.
3. Need for power- this kind of need motivates an individual to have control over a particular situation especially regarding their work which can have emphasis in their life.
One of the major features of this theory of motivation is that it states that all the three primary needs can work hand in hand and do not follow up step by step process which mean that any of the needs can be accessed and satisfied in any particular given order and it is the completion of this needs which lead to the development of a certain type of personality for any individual, in other terms, the motivations of a individual can help protect the behaviour of the individual.
