Net Neutrality means that all the internet traffic should be treated the same irrespective of their source.Earlier when net neutrality was not in place ISP used to give preference to certain kind of internet traffic based on the source. These companies whose site where given preferential access used to pay to the ISP to promote their sites and internet traffic.

Net Neutrality places a restriction on these unfair means to promote certain online services and to create a healthy environment in the internet world. The users have the benefit of this as they were able to access various services without any filteration from the ISP.Note that these are all applicable to legal content.

Negatives from the perspective of ISP is that earlier they used to get extra revenue from these online service giants that boost their revenue but now with this rule in place they lost this source of income. They lost some market share as they had to do a fair competition with the other competitors and their service charges had to be kept in check with other service providers
