Life is full of uncertainity.Noone knows what hapens in the next moment.Accidents happen each and every day and lots of life gets wasted. But lives can be saved if a person donates his or her organs to the needy person. Organ donation is a very Noble work through which one can help needy people requiring some organs . As such the organs of a person who has died will if not donated will be of no use and will be disposed off as per the rituals and traditions but if these are donated to the needy ones they will go a long way in giving healthy life to those persons.

But this act also has some pros and cons.

Pros of organ Donation:- are as follows.......

  1. Giving A Person Second chance :- A person who is facing the trauma of organ failure and who is in the threat of dying gets the second chance to live because of this noble act. Not only that person but the whole family comes out of this trauma because of organ donation.
  2. Saving Lives Of People :-One or many lives can be saved with this act. An organ failure can be disastrous and a person can die because of this. For example if A person's both kidneys are fail it can take his life but donation of kidney by other person can save his/her life.It is said that one donar can save upto 8 lives.
  3. Feeling of immortality :- When a person dies and donates his /her organs. His or her organs still live on. suppose a person donates eyes or heart or any other organ it will be alive and will give another person a good life. This thought gives a good feeling and boosts a person to donate organs.Today it is no always necessory that a person can donate only after dying but a person can also donate organs while he is alive. For example, kidneys, portions of liver or lungs etc. This always gives a good feeling.
  4. Spreading Humanity : Todays world where hatred is destroying this whole world. Humanity should be made alive with such kind of acts. Without even knowing the background and conditions of the recipiant , the donar donates his/her organs. This ofcourse is the greatest act of humanity.
  5. Enhancment of medical opprtunities : Medical sciences needs to be practiced in real life situations. This kind of opportunities will take the medical science to a next level and scientists will be able to discover new ways to handle these type of life situations.

Now some cons : as follows......

Though organ donation is a noble act but it too has some advers effect on the donar as well as the recipiant or to their families. Some of them are as follows :-

  1. Medical science may fail : As it is known that one body doesn't accept other body's organ. Before donation it has to be matched. But sometimes after matching and plantation also there may be some complication and body may reject the organ. In this case the whole process becomes useless.
  2. Donar may Have some Complication After Donation :As there are some organ donation where a live donar can donate the organs. Sometimes a person may feel handicapped because of this. For example, If aperson donates one kidney then He will have restrictions of eating or drinking the alcoholic things or a bone marrow donar also have restrictions in some activities. This can make the person depressed or anxious.
  3. Family of donar may have the feeling of regreat : When organ of donar is donated after dying it may be a subject of sorrow for the family as it always reminds them their loved one. So it may result in the feeling of regreat. Normally to avoid this situation the identity of donar and recipient has to be kept hidden.
  4. Eligibility to organ donation : There are some conditions where a person is not eligible to donate the organ. For example, People with no curable disease eg HIV positive or elderly people who are above eighty etc.
  5. It may heart some religious sentiments : In some religions it is believed that a person should be buried with all the organs other wise he or she may not have that organ in their next birth. Though these superstitions do not have any place in todays society but still there are some people who live by this and it becomes their opposition to organ donation.

So,  It's a voluntary act which is gaining momentum and there is a need to sensitize more people so that no person dies in want of an organ. We should surely donate organs to the needy person. It is said to be one of the greatest humanistic act of mankind.
