Many adolescents find it more difficult to be close to their parents though they share a common social, regional, and cultural background. This phenomenon is both cultural and developmental.
There may be different reasons behind this, depending on the adolescent and the parents. But the most common reasons are curfews like situations in the home, leisure time activities, cleanliness, etc. Apart from this schoolwork, household work, choice of friends are the other issues of daily disputes.
Another side adolescents are more likely to be influenced by friends because they spent a great amount of time with their friends. Their participation in sport, school, clubs, etc makes them comfortable with each other. More or less, friends are the same age people with almost the same level of maturity which helps them to understand each better than parents. Thy doesn't put unnecessary rules and curfews.
