Explain in five paragraphs how and why modern Caribbean Families are still defined by the history of Plantation Slavery.
Plantation slavery is a common term in the history of America. In the various parts of America specially in South America there were many farmers who had large estate. They needed slave labors for plantation. Therefore there was the sytem of using slaves in the plantation of the farms. Mainly the land owners were the British colonizers.
Along with the industrial growth agricultural development also took place. There were the many land owners who would cultivate sugarcane, tobacco, ti3ce, cotton etc. These agricultural materials were in great demand for the expansion of the industry. Besides these land owners were mainly exporters. Therefore they would import a large number of slaves from the Caribbean provinces. These slaves would be employed generation after generation in plantation. Therefore they are still marked as plantation slavery.
There were many slave traders who were involved in slave trading. There were alave dealers and atbthat period it was a profitable business. The slaves would be imported by force. They were under the master who was the land owner. They were called planters. They were aristocrats and the slaves would be employed in various activities. Even they would be employed as household servants.
The plantation slaves would live in many adverse situation. They were deprived of common needs. They were not provided minimum facility. Their dwelling place was was very poor. They were not allowed to keep any furniture. Their children were also employed as slaves. They were deprived of education. Minimum health facilities would not be provided to them.
But history is dynamic. Nothing temains for ever. Change must occur. Then the revolution appeared. Slaves also revolted against such tortuous situation. They demanded rights and freedom. They were also involved in many violent activities. Thousands of slaves were shot dead for revolution. But such system was abolished and now they are free. But still the black history also haunts them. They are sometimes called plantation slavery.
