a) Access - The patient has the right to obtain all the health-related data from the healthcare database. This information should be related to his/her own health only
Example - patient can obtain health care information related to his/her own health through websites of the hospital. The patients needs to create and account. This account will be password protected.
b)Use - it is the utilization of the patient's information for making decisions regarding the patient's and community health.
Example - A healthcare system can use the data sexually transmitted disease to find hotspots and direct its activities in these hotspots.
c)Disclosure - it is the release of health rate data from one organization to another organization.
Example - health-related policymakers may ask for information about an infectious disease like tuberculosis, influenza from hospitals. When the hospital releases this information to the policymakers it is called disclosure
d) Consent - it is the permission is given by the client to the service provider
Example - If a hospital wants to do a study on patients of hypertension who attend the OPD. They hospital has to take permission ( consent) from the patients
e) Expressed consent - this type consent is implied or understood and not necessarily asked for.
Example - a patient of asthma has a flare-up. This push the patient to come to the emergency as he is out of breath. The act of coming to the emergency department implies that the patient is willing to receive treatment.
f) Informed consent - this type of consent is obtained by the health-care provider after the health care provider has provided detailed information about the procedure/ intervention. The information provided will include:
