Navigating Organizational Change
The health care industry, like other industries, is a very competitive environment. As organizational behavior within health care companies evolves, it will be even more important to consider the future use of learning about/applying concepts of organizational behavior and the need for continuing education.
After a productive year with the medical waste management company, Justin has now been tasked with implementing a company-wide policy change to require continuing education. Each employee will now be required to complete 2 hours of continuing education each year.
Justin’s supervisor has asked for an analysis and plan for the implementation of this company-wide change. This analysis will be presented to company leadership as a tool for understanding and implementing this change.
Answer the following prompts as your analysis of the change process identified above.
Ans) It is important for the healthcare providers to continue with education for several reasons. First, they need advanced education to keep up with changing trends in customer needs, such as rising cases of cancer as opposed to earlier days. Technological advancements also raise the importance of health care providers to continue learning on how to use the new technology in treating the sick. Health care providers have a need to continue with education in order to achieve personal development which increases their marketability and payments as well as the need to keep up with competition from fellow health care provider.

- This change may affect individual job performance and job satisfaction in several ways. It may first show poor job performance or satisfaction if those who are taking the continuing education are not happy with the change, possibly showing feelings that they don’t need the extra education and don’t understand why they have to participate. However, with these two hours of continuing education being taken, one may see that job performance will increase as information as been updated or changed and each employee is now aware and on the same page. This may allow employees to feel confident in the job they are performing and more.
- I have always found that rewarding the employees and given them recognition for thework that they do helps with retention and morale. The company that I currently work givesrewards for bravo that they earn for recognition that they received for doing good work withinthe company are with the providers. The rewards could be cash or points to earn prize that theycan cash in at any time. At each staff meeting every other week, they recognize those bravos thatthe employee(s) have received within the past two weeks. All so they have a career path whereyou can do online course through their learning course to help you reach another path in your career. This all has seem to help increase morale and retention with in company.
