In this current working environment where there is a lot of pressure on the employees to not only fulfil the demands of the workplace but also face the issue of family pressure. The employees have to sacrifice one of these i.e. whether the work or the family at any given time when there is a demand from either side. This creates a lot of mental fatigue and pressure on the employee as on one hand he has the work-related task and on another hand he is bounded by the familial responsibilities. This results in lower productivity, a distraction from the work and tension in the family that is carried forward to the workplace too.
The probable solution to this issue can be to provide the opportunity of working from home to the employees at least once a week. This will facilitate the ample time for the employee to have the work-family life balance as he can save a lot of time and effort to commute to the office and while working from home, he can also fulfil some of the family responsibility and pass some quality time at home.
In order to implement this policy, the HR department can make the roaster of the employees on the basis fo the requirement of the department and personal preference of the employee. This will ensure that each department has an adequate number of employees working at a given working day and at the same time taking care of the reference of the employee to avail of this opportunity.
Once this policy is implemented for a trial period of 1 month, the change in the overall job satisfaction organizational productivity and efficiency can be determined and if the results are positive then it can be extended for a longer period of time.
