Discuss why this may or may not be a good situation? If an employee has been empowered and advised to be creative and to think outside the box to solve problems how do you keep the employees from getting out of control, creating liability and going rogue?

if there is too much empowerment provided to the employees, the situation might not be a very good situation. this might be one of the highly motivating methods of empowering the employees, and in increased productivity. if this would be done in a correct manner, it might increase productivity, though, the scope of making mistakes in very narrow.
this might be a bad situation if the employee who has been given complete freedom is the wrong employe. before imparting such authority, it is important to identify if the employee would be capable enough to handle authority well enough. in some employees authority may lead to arrogance, and this may be a very dangerous situation.
when the employees might lose the sense of what the reality is and as a result have a level of new found authority, that would unleash their inner "entreprenueral" self.
