Elizabeth is 26 years old and in excellent physical health. She is the youngest of three siblings. She recently has begun to complain of listlessness, fatigue and sleeping difficulties. These symptoms have been occurring for about two weeks. Elizabeth's mother died last month and Elizabeth is faced with putting her elderly father in a nursing home. Her two siblings are experiencing personal and family difficulties and are depending on Elizabeth to make the decision regarding their father. In addition, Elizabeth has just gotten a promotion, which has greatly increased her job responsibilities.
1. Discuss a DSM - V diagnosis that may be made based on the symptoms above.
2. Discuss a treatment plan that might be suggested.
1.According to the case study, symptoms mentioned indicate towards the Major Depressive Disorder as it meets the DSM-5 criteria i.e. the symptoms complaints are present since 2 weeks.
