Do you think human cloning will eventually be as commonplace as in vitro fertiliation are now? Why or why not?
I expect human cloning technology will be safe like IVF (In vitro fertilisation) and highly regulated in the near future. The world is changing its view towards science. The advances in science, technology and medicine have marvelled in the modern developments, high standard of living and most importantly human health. It seems possible that successful human cloning will happen within in next 2-3 decades by the advancement of existing or development of entirely new technologies. Human cloning might have promising application in infertility treatment. Scientific communities have already dealt with controversial issues with new technologies like IVF. Initially, the idea of IVF faced a lot of oppositions from society, religion and law communities. People were extremely suspicious about IVF initially, but after the first test-tube baby in 1978, the technique gained global acceptance and is used today by thousands of infertile couples worldwide and become the routine treatment of infertility. In future human cloning may be usual like IVF after the establishment of safety and effectiveness of human cloning and surpass the current ethical, legal and social challenges.
